How to Submit Music Proof at Cheer Competitions

Published 2026-10-25 · CheerMix AI™ Blog

Bring it printed

Varsity states that proof of licensing must be provided as a printed copy during registration at the event. Source: Varsity Spirit Music Guidelines. A file on your phone may not be enough, so print it and keep spares in your team binder.

For The Cheerleading Worlds, USASF has asked teams to bring proof of licensing for all music to roster verification. Source: USASF Cheerleading Worlds Information Packet (PDF).

Season checklist

  1. Collect the license or receipt for every song, sound effect and voiceover in the mix.
  2. Make sure the team name on the paperwork matches your registration.
  3. Print two copies for each event and keep a digital copy with your music file.
  4. Bring the exact file you will play, so its fingerprint matches the paperwork.
  5. If your music changes mid season, get updated paperwork for the new version.
  6. Ask your event producer ahead of time if you are unsure your documentation will be accepted.

International teams

Varsity also publishes an International Music Clearance Certificate, in which the team certifies it has secured all necessary rights to the music used. Source: Varsity International Music Clearance Certificate (PDF).

Using a CheerMix AI™ certificate

Each finished CheerMix AI™ download comes with a PDF certificate showing the license ID, team, date, duration and the SHA 256 fingerprint of the audio file. Officials can scan the QR code or visit cheermixai.com/verify to confirm the record and check that the file matches.

CheerMix AI™ is not on the Varsity Music Provider Directory and is not approved by USASF or Varsity, so acceptance is up to each event producer.

Build a custom mix in CheerMix AI™. Previews are free, and a finished mix is $49 with unlimited edits. See pricing.
